                   Eight unique sites in sri Lanka have been inscribed on the UNESCO world heritage  List nominally polonnaruwe (1982) ,ancient  sigiriya city (1982) , Rangiri  Dambulla temple (1991), ancient galle city and is security strategies (1988) sacred  Anuradapura city (1982) , sacred  kandy city (1988) , sinharaja the forest Reserve (1988) and the central Highlands of sri lanka (2010) have been declared world Heritage sites.

Sigiya 


Sigiriya is and ancient royal palace dating back to the forth sentury.it was billed by king kashyapa and is considered by some to be the eighth wonder of the world .the ruins of the sigiriya  please can be seen on the highest plain of the sigiriya rock .in the senterl courtyard is the lion gate,the mirrorwall and the mirror wall murals .the lover place  browns are firmly fixed to the slopes bellow ,with moats ,walls ,and gardens .these features extend hundreds of meters from the lower part of the palace complex .

 Sigiriya  was once used as a palace as well as fort. Evidence of the amazing creative  skills of the hela artist of the previous king's days can still be seen in the sigiriya premises .

The cistern at the top of the sigiriya rock plain collect water and gives the water to the moats and gradens below , giving  the palace grounds a great appeal .

Galle...


Galle is a city located in the southwestern port of sri lanka, 119km (74miles) . Before the portuguese invasion in the 16th century , galle was also known as gimhatiththa .at the time the port of galle was known as one of the major ports in sri lanka. In the 18th century , the city of galle rose to the pinnacle of development . The situation gradually   changed with the development of the port of colombo after  the arrival of the british .

Anuradapura is one of the ancient capitals of sri lanka . Its preserved ruins reveal to the world the grandeur of ancient sri lanka civilization .beginning around the city of anuradapura ,this civilization is one of the most advnced civilization in asia and the world. This world heritage site is located on the Malwathu oya in the north central province ,275 km from colombo, the capital of sri lanka . Located on the banks of the river .the kingdom of anuradapura which started in the 4th century BC lasted till the beginning of the eleventh year. This was a time when the city of anuradapura was the most politically  and socially stable city in south asia . At this time the city of anuradapura was rich in unique cultural and high civilization . Ancient buddhist monasteries are  spread over and area of 16 square miles (40km) in the present day city of anuradapura  and this region holds a prominent place among the international arche olo gical cites.
