Low country dance...

  Dance in low country highly ritualistic .this from of dance is performed to appease abil spirits wich cause sickness an is thus called "devil dance " . The dances wear masks depicting many characters varid in forms of bird ,demons , reptiles etc.there are 18 main dances related to pahatharara style known as the 18sanniya held to exorcise 18 types of diseases from the human body. The low country dances of the southern plains mostly spread in coastal areas such as galle , mathra ,hambanthota . It has to contents of devil dance and beity dance .  Padaviya wewa  According to the poojavaliya ,the padaviya tank wich was built during the rign of king saddathissa was later renovated by king mahasen. Later , during the reign of king mughal ll, who reigned from 531-555 AD ,padaviya lake became the largest late in sri Lanka at the time . Ancient entlegends state that in the past the tank had a bund of about  11 miles and the capacity of the tank was about 300,000 acre feet. But after that this lake was destroyed as anuradapura was under the control of the sun. Event the british who later ruled ceylon did not ren owape this lake . However , prime minister DS  senanayaka saw the destruction of padaviya lake around 1950 and restored it .accordingly ,at present the length of the dame of this tank with catacity of 85000 acre feet is about 3.5km. History of pottery in ceylon              With the transition of the ancient humans who lived in sri lanka from the hunting era to the era of domestic farming ,the background required for the making of pottery was created . At that time, people living along the river valleys could easily find the raw materials needed to make pottery .        Animals On The Verge Extinction. Polar Bears           Polar bears live across the Arctic in canada, Alaska , Greenland , Russia ,Denmark and Norway . They are the first animals to be threatened because of global warming. They need a cold climate , snow and ice in the polar regions melt , these animals lose their natural habitat .scientist say that polar bears are in danger of becoming extinct in about 50 years.
